Dockside Surf Shop first opened around

1968 in Port Aransas under the name "Dockside General Store and Emporium", owned by Cora and Jerry Chisolm. after a "mysterious" fire destroyed the Port A store, Cora and Jerry moved to a small shop in downtown Corpus Christi. The store was moved to it's current location in 1974 opening as "Dockside Sail, Surf & Dive", with the distinction of being functionally disfunctional. The store was one of the featured shooting locations for the 1985 cult classic "The Legend of Billie Jean". In 1994, Cora and Jerry retired, selling the business to the current owners Patrick and Tippy Kelley. Tippy has organized and expanded the "core surf" feel throughout the years, creating a classic surf shop experience. Dockside carries the top brands of surfboards, surf wear, street wear, bikinis, boardshorts, hats, watches, jewelry, and more local surf history/lore than anywhere in the gulf coast. We are the oldest true "Surf Shop" in Texas.
